The High Commission for the Development of Riyadh (HCDR) has announced that 3,709 projects are being implemented in the region worth SR430 billion.

The projects are in the capital city and 20 areas, involving 65 administrations. The projects are being monitored to inform future development planning.

The HCDR announced in its quarterly report released on Wednesday that there are 1,132 housing and public services projects, making up the most at 33 percent, 956 public utility projects making up 28 percent, 604 education projects, 576 transport and road projects, 212 health projects, and 75 economic development projects.

The commission also announced that contractors completed 432 projects last year, or 12.6 percent out of 2,595. There were 103 or 3 percent delayed projects, while 288 or 8.4 percent stopped completely.

It was found that delays were caused by contractors having poor financial and technical resources, lack of land and problems getting licenses to operate.
