Riyadh Gov. Prince Khaled bin Bandar lauded Filipino expatriates for their well-earned reputation as efficient workers on yesterday.

“For decades, the Saudi people have known Filipinos who have contributed to the national development of the Kingdom. They have also shown respect for the culture and laws of Saudi Arabia,” said Prince Khalid bin Bandar in a statement.

Riyadh Deputy Gov. Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz was also present during their meeting with Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago.

The Filipino envoy thanked the Riyadh governor and his deputy for “the harmonious relations between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia and for the excellent treatment extended to Filipinos who have made the Kingdom their second home."

He also thanked Prince Khaled bin Bandar for the humanitarian consideration extended to Filipinos who commit violations in the Riyadh region and the regular clemency granted to detained Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Tago also expressed “gratitude to the Emir's Office for the untiring efforts in facilitating an amicable settlement of ‘qisas’ cases.”

He especially noted the intsrumental role played by the “Emir’s Office in the case of Joselito Zapanta and its pivotal role in the resolution of several labor-related cases, including the case of 97 Filipinos working with the Al-Swayeh company who faced difficulties.”

The Riyadh governor and Tago also reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, noting that the Philippines and Saudi Arabia have been long-standing partners in the political arena.

Both countries have also fought against international terrorism and cooperate in matters of interfaith dialogue and national development for both Saudis and Filipinos.
