Ninety percent of road bumps in Al-Ahsa do not conform to international standards and were placed there by citizens, according to a report from the municipality, a local publication reported Friday.

The study, presented by council member Ali Sultan, recommended that the municipality form a team to remove all illegal road bumps. The team should comprise members of the municipality’s traffic, safety and information technology departments.

They should remove all these structures in residential neighborhoods, unless they are close to government buildings, said Sultan. The team should also determine where these road bumps should be, he said.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Al-Ahsa Adel Al-Milhim said the municipal council discussed several other issues on Wednesday including hygiene contracts, the status of contracted employees, and the location of concrete and brick factories.

Al-Milhim said the factories would be moved away from residential areas in coordination with the Transport Ministry.
