Riyadh police have arrested 11 Yemenis and two Saudis who were part of a gang responsible for hundreds of reported thefts in the city.

Teams initially identified two Yemeni nationals involved in the crimes, whom they followed and monitored until they arrested all 13 members.

The gang admitted to taking part in more than 270 case of theft across different parts of the city.

Most of these cases had been reported to the Al-Aziziya police station south of Riyadh. Authorities identified stolen goods worth more than SR5 million.

Members confessed that their roles would vary depending on the theft. They would study each facility, frequently visiting and examining entrances while pretending to be job seekers.




Police have since reopened investigation into hundreds of reports filed over the last two years by citizens and expats reporting the burglary of iron safes at large businesses and institutions.
