King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), represented by Badir Program for Technology Incubator, recently organized a series of training workshops in Riyadh and Jeddah on the role of individual investors in initiating small and medium projects.
The workshops, which fall within the Angel Investor Networks (SIRB), were organized with the aim of acquainting trainees on the best practices in the field of individual investments in small and medium-sized technical projects, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The workshops, which were presented by a US expert, dealt with a number of topics on how to enhance small and medium-sized projects. The presentation also highlighted the role of individual investors and how they can develop their capacities and skills as entrepreneurs to achieve successful technical projects.
Meanwhile, CEO of the Badir Program, Abdulaziz Al-Harqan said these training workshops were organized to support the culture of innovation, encourage young Saudi entrepreneurs to develop their small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as to diversify income sources and provide more job opportunities for citizens.
The Kingdom is rapidly acknowledging the role of individual investors in light of the increased investments in the area of information technology and communications (ITC). These investments are estimated to reach $ 13 billion by the end of 2014 and the Kingdom possesses 290,000 potential individual investors, Al-Harqan said.
