Several sailors were caught purchasing diesel illegally from marine brokers in the Kingdom’s waters, said Col. Khalid Al-Arqoubi, the official spokesman of the border guards in the area.

“A ship coming from the United Arab Emirates with the Togo flag was captured next to the Al-Khafji port with a crew of six seamen and a captain of Asian descent on board,” he said.

The ship was initially stopped because it did not have a permit or an entry license.

The crew was then found to be in possession of 110 bottles of alcohol and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash.
