A young Saudi man was found dead in Jordan in suspicious circumstances, sabq.org online newspaper reported Thursday, quoting security sources.

The newspaper said the man fell from the fourth floor of a building in Jubaiha, northwest of Amman, on Wednesday.

“The dead Saudi is a 21-year-old student,” the source said, adding that initial reports said there were no criminal motives behind the death.

One Saudi blogger asked the Saudi Embassy in Amman to investigate the circumstances that led to the student’s death.

“Saudis are facing a lot of problems in Jordan and the embassy should find out the reason for the man’s death. We cannot accept Jordanian police statement that there was no criminal motive behind his death,” the blogger said.

But another report said the Saudi man had committed suicide by jumping out of the building. “People who stayed with the man said he had tried several times before to end his life and they had been preventing him from doing it,” the report said.

The report also indicated that the man, who was intoxicated, committed suicide after his friends in the building went to sleep. His body has been taken to the Jordan University Hospital for postmortem.
