A primary school student and a driver died in an accident on Wednesday morning on the south Khaibar road.

The accident happened when the bus in which the student was traveling collided with a pickup truck. The pickup truck driver was the other person who died. Three students were injured and taken to a local hospital.

Spokesman of the Saudi Red Crescent in Asir Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Asiri said the operations room received a report at 6:45 a.m. about the accident.

Eight ambulances were sent to the site, in addition to teams from nearby hospitals. The driver had to be removed from his car by a Civil Defense team. The injured students were taken to the hospital by citizens who arrived at the scene before the rescue teams.

Zamel Al-Shahrani, an eyewitness, said the roads in the area were in a bad shape. He urged the government to also build more roads. He said there was need for a hospital in the area, which has a population of more than 100,000 people.

Al-Shahrani said the government should set up an office of the Civil Defense.
