The Department of Information Technology Directorate in Riyadh announced that it will improve technological facilities for schools in the Kingdom’s capital this year to develop a more technical environment for Saudi students.

According to Director of Information Technology Department, Aliwi Al-Aliwi, the project that will be implemented this year involves expansion of network connections, technical management, high speed and more secured online services, among others.

Additionally, administrative and other educational offices in the region will be equipped with a text messaging system that will enable faster and more convenient way of communication between school officials and students.

Al-Aliwi said they will also conduct various training programs for school employees to familiarize them with the new software that they will introduce in schools in the capital and to further improve their performance especially in the field of information technology.

A report said “a number of students, teachers and administrators have expressed their dissatisfaction over the lack of preparedness of schools especially when it comes to technical problems in Jeddah.”

According to the report, the Jeddah Directorate of Education had taken “all measures to ensure functional readiness of the schools,” but it had only drawn criticisms from school officials and students alike, saying that the so-called preparations by the directorate seemed unnoticeable to them.

The projects are expected to take care of various problems faced by students and teachers in Riyadh and to redeem the good reputation of the schools in the Kingdom.
