Abdulmajid Al-Ghamidi, spokesman for the education directorate in Jeddah, has announced the success of the attendance plan implemented across the Kingdom’s schools.

Sunday marked the end of the school break and attendance rates for pupils and teachers throughout all educational stages registered 100 percent, he told Arab News.

In another related incident, the General Directorate of Education continued to implement disciplinary measures, which it had begun enforcing a week prior to the midterm break. Field tours to educational establishments were conducted in Jeddah to reduce students' tardiness and ensure high attendance rates.

The plan comes within the framework of Education Minister Prince Khaled Al-Faisal’s policies to improve education and academic performance levels in the Kingdom. It stems from the importance of reducing high absenteeism rates in Saudi schools.

Al-Ghamidi commended the efforts of school principals and teachers, as well as students and parents in cooperating with schools to curb the levels of absenteeism, especially before and after school holidays.
