The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has called on public utility providers to secure standby power-generating sources and maintain existing units ahead of the summer season, the Saudi Press Agency said.

Abdulsalam Al-Yamani, deputy director of Public Affairs at the SEC, urged adherence to the rules approved by the Council of Ministers on the provision of standby power sources at locations with more than 50 people.

These may include public libraries, galleries, museums, stadiums, meeting rooms, lecture theaters, public halls at hotels, hospitals and water and sewage pumping stations.

He said most facilities and public places around the world are obliged to provide standby energy sources and ensure that they are operating efficiently.
