Students from the Sri Lankan International School in Jeddah (SLISJ) bagged first and third place at the Inter-School Gavel Club Speech Contest organized by Toastmasters International to mark its 2nd annual conference of Division H, District 79.

Adnan Niyaz and Fatima Noha Miskin came first and third place. Other participating contestants included students from the International Indian School in Jeddah’s Boys Section and Al-Wurood International School.

“It was an immense pleasure to be part of the Toastmasters experience at the annual conference,” said Adnan Niyaz, the first-place winner of the speech contest. “My achievement was a product of all the support and assistance provided by the staff and management of SLISJ, the officials of Division H and my family and friends. It is to them that I owe a debt of gratitude for emerging victorious from a competitive, yet healthy contest. I very much look forward to taking on the bigger challenges now.”

“I am very proud of the students’ achievements, since it is solely their attempts that brought us this win,” said Yasmin Riyal, teacher-in-charge. “I think it is a good inspiration for the entire school, as it has motivated students from younger grades.”

The Board of Management at SLISJ conveyed their gratitude to Toastmasters Mohamed Fawzi and Zahran Abusahid, the teacher-in-charge, Yasmin Riyal, and the entire staff of SLISJ for their immense support in coaching students to achieve so much.

The Sri Lankan International School has marked the achievement as one of greatest forms of recognition ever achieved at the school.
