The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da’wah and Guidance has signed contracts worth SR19 million to restore a large number of mosques around the Kingdom, said Abdullah Al-Huwaimel, the ministry’s undersecretary for Administrative and Technical Affairs.

Al-Huwaiwel said the projects include the restoration of nine mosques and maintenance and cleaning works on 402 mosques in Riyadh, in addition to the supervision of the King Abdullah Waqf Project in Madinah and the administration building project in Yanbu, the maintenance another group of mosques in Riyadh and the restoration of the ministry’s branch in Riyadh.

The project also includes the restoration of the Al-Murkabiya mosque in the Dawadmi area in Riyadh and the restoration of the Atheem mosque in Qassim.

Al-Huwaimel said the projects included overseeing the maintenance of 99 mosques in Najran and the completion of the construction of the Prince Naif mosque.

Other projects include the establishment of three mosques in Najran, the maintenance of the fourth group of 40 mosques in Sharurah and overseeing the implementation of several projects for the ministry branch in Najran.

The restoration of Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan mosque in Arar, Abdullah bin Masood mosque in Rafha, Imam Muslim mosque near the the northern borders and the Prince Fahd bin Sultan mosque in Tabuk are among the other projects slated for completion.
