Border Guards on the southern border of the Kingdom arrested close to 90,000 infiltrators and 1,151 smugglers on land and at sea in the last three months, an official said.

“The contraband seized during the three months from November to January included 719 weapons of various kinds, 4,697 live ammunition, 5,057 narcotic tablets, 698,350 kg of qat and 5,568 kg of hashish. The security forces also seized 4,020 kg of food, 20,297 kg of snuff and 3,160 kg of fireworks in addition to a sum of SR540,311. They arrested 89,884 infiltrators and 1,151 smugglers in addition to seizing 11,664 livestock,” spokesman of Jazan Border Guards Brig. Abdullah Bin Mahfouz said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on Friday.

The smugglers and infiltrators were intercepted by the Border Guards under the direct supervision of Commander of Jazan Border Guards Maj. Gen. Abdul Aziz Al-Sobhi.
