Riyadh patrol police have arrested three Saudis for allegedly impersonating security officers and robbing several expats in the city, sabq.org reported on Monday quoting security sources.

Police caught the Saudis, aged between 20 and 30, as they stopped an Indian worker for fake inspection. When they saw the patrol police approaching, they sped away in a GMC vehicle, the report said.

The Indian told police that the three stopped their car behind him while he was walking to his work place, claiming to be security officers. “One of them emerged from the car and took my purse,” he said.

A Pakistani expatriate who works for a nearby rest house also complained to police that the three had come to his building two days ago and stole cables after threatening him.

Police found the three-member gang to be in possession of foreign currencies belonging to Arab and Asian countries and a cellphone, the electronic daily said. They have been referred to the Al-Hamra police for punitive action.
