Jeddah police have arrested three Asian expatriates between the ages of 25 and 32 for the murder of an Asian expat in the Al-Faisaliah neighborhood.

“Preliminary investigation shows that the first suspect had broken into the victim’s place of residence with the intention of committing a robbery,” said Brig. Gen. Ati Al-Qurashi, spokesman for Makkah police. “The victim fell and hit his head on the bedpost while trying to fight the intruder, who then stole money and fled the scene with his two accomplices, leaving the victim to bleed to death.”

“Security authorities in Jeddah were notified about the presence of a body in a house in the neighborhood,” said Al-Qurashi. “Forensic experts reported to the scene of the crime, accompanied by a member of the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution to collect evidence."

The victim was an Asian expat in his sixties, Al-Qurashi said. “Bruises and marks consistent with blows delivered with a hard object were evident on his body, which has been shifted to a local hospital for forensic examination.”

Maj. Gen. Abdulaziz Al-Sooly, Makkah police director, had issued directives to speed up search and investigation operations, he said. Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Jeddah police director, personally followed up on investigations.
