RIYADH: Reacting to news published on a social website stating that a confectionery was burgled, Riyadh police arrested three suspects who admitted to the robbery at the official inquiry.

According to police, their media department found the news on social media and advised the criminal investigations bureau to follow up on the matter.

The gang of three included two expatriates and a Saudi who are in their 20s. They were using weapons to frighten their victims and rob various shops.

During its attack on a sweet shop, the gang assaulted the cashier and broke into the cash register to steal the money. The three wore face masks to hide their identities during operations.

During police interrogation, they admitted that in addition to the robbery, they committed four other such thefts in other parts of the capital. “They used a stolen car for their operations,” the police said.

The theft of the car was earlier reported at Al-Manar police station in the city.

On completion of the inquiry, police will produce the suspects before a court of law.
