RIYADH: In new details emerging in the case that shook the nation, police reveal the Daesh twins Saleh and Khaled, who are still under investigation, not only took turns stabbing their mother, 67-year-old Haila Al-Arini, but also decapitated her, resulting in her immediate death.
The crime took place kast month at the family’s home in the Al-Harma district of Riyadh. According to a police spokesman, the twins lured their mother into the storage room and repeatedly stabbed her to death. They then turned their attention to their 73-year-old father and stabbed him several times, as well as their 22-year-old brother. The twins used sharp knives they obtained from outside the home.
The Interior Ministry at the time confirmed in a press statement that the attack by the twins on their family members was a result of their acceptance of extremist ideologies.
The twins' sister, 29-year-old Iman, was present in the house at the time of the crime, but did not respond to knocks on her door, sparing her life. Upon leaving her room, she saw blood everywhere throughout the house.
The radicalization of the twins did not occur overnight. It happened over three years after the twins left school and were prevented from completing their high school studies. According to sources, the twins were isolated and spent most of their time at home. While they were assisting their mother in preparing food and other tasks, they were also being lured toward extremism and confronted anyone who challenged such ideas.
