Two children, aged 7 and 8, drowned in Bisha valley on Friday while they were picnicking with their parents, sabq.org reported.

Awad Al-Qahtani, spokesman of Jazan police confirmed that the deaths occurred following heavy rains in the region.

“The two children — a boy and a girl — fell in the flood’s path while they were a little distance away from their relatives,” he said.

The incident took place at 10 a.m.

The Fatiha police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the drowned children and helped in picking up the two bodies, which were later taken to the Bisha General Hospital, the electronic daily said. In another development, Civil Defense officers in Jeddah pulled out the body of an eight-year-old child who fell into a sewage tank on Thursday in Naseem district.
