Dar Al-Hekma University sent 36 students on a visit to the Shoura Council in Riyadh, with the goal of helping law and international relations students understand the history of the council and the methodology within which it operates in the Kingdom.

The group that visited the Shoura Council was led by Sana Askool, dean of students affairs, along with Hanan Al-Ghamdi, coordinator of the student development unit, and Dareen Mosaoa, a faculty member.

"The University of Dar Al-Hekma would like to thank the Shoura Council for its support and cooperation with our students by allowing them to go through this useful and unique experience,” said Suhair Hassan Al-Qurashi, president of Dar Al-Hekma University. “We always push our students to experience the practical side of their studies, and we as an institution strive to provide them with opportunities that will help them excel in the future", he added.

Rasha Abdulrahman Al-Shubaily from the General Administration of the Department of Women at the Shoura Council, welcomed the students and screened a documentary on the history of the council. After the documentary, the students were briefed about the council’s efforts, advisory functions and the role it plays in increasing the active participation of women in the council.

Following the documentary, a Q&A session was held with Al-Shubaily. The students were taken on a tour of the council’s headquarters and were invited to attend a Shoura session headed by Abdullah Al-Asheikh, chairman of the Shoura Council.

"Personally, this trip was one of the most important events in my life because it broke the stereotype of the Shoura Council in my mind that has been created by my community,” said Dimah AlSharif, an undergraduate law student of Dar Al-Hekma. "When I saw the efforts behind every session and every decision, I realized that it is more than just an arbitrary meeting or session, and this reflects our community's desire to be a better community that makes better choices", the student added.

“It was a very welcoming and generous reception with qualified and knowledgeable employees. Overall, it was an amazing and unique experience to be inside the legislative authority of our country and to watch how it functions,” said Robaa Abdullatif, an international relations student.
