The Technical and Vocational Training Council in Makkah launched an environmental safety and awareness program on Saturday.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of keeping parks clean.

Volunteers and scouts targeted several parks across the city with the support of the Jeddah College of Technology, the Institute of Military Training and the Vocational Institute in Jeddah.

Ahmed bin Abdul Wahab, TVTC director, said the participation of volunteers and scouts helps encourage members of the community to take charge of environmental preservation under the Islamic slogan “cleanliness accounts for half of faith.”

“Maintaining public property is our collective social responsibility,” he said.

Waleed Filimban, scouts office supervisor, said that this cleaning program targets the values of responsibility, positive initiative, cooperation and solidarity with the nation to achieve social development and sound environmental protection.

Filimban also said that the program aims to enhance the value of hygiene, scouting and volunteering.

The TVTC Makkah in Makkah is consistently working on the development of several volunteer programs, including training volunteers in driving safety, environmental protection, waste removal, park maintenance and home economics.
