A Saudi man wanted in connection with the 2011 violence in the eastern city of Qatif has surrendered himself, a spokesman of the Interior Ministry, who identified the man as Musa Jaafar Mohammed Al-Mabyouq, said.

Stating that Al-Mabyouq’s case will be dealt as per the legal procedures, he praised “the constructive role” played by his family in the surrender.

Al-Mabyouq’s name figured in a list of 23 Saudis wanted in connection with violence in the city. Several of the 23 suspects have been either arrested, killed or have turned themselves in.

Al-Mabyouq was sentenced to six months in jail after he turned himself the first time. However, when he failed to attend his trial following his release, authorities put his name back in the wanted list.

The ministry official called upon all wanted people to turn themselves in, warning the public against giving them shelter or providing them with any assistance.
