Riyadh, the Saudi capital city, experienced a relatively warm day on Saturday following intermittent rainfall on Friday night.

The wintry chill in the air during the day has subsided substantially making it pleasant compared to the previous spell of cold weather.

However, the sky turned partly cloudy toward the evening.

The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) has forecast more rain in the area saying, “The western and northern parts of Riyadh province including the capital city will experience light to medium rainfall.”

It also forecast a rise in mercury levels with maximum temperatures of up to 23 degrees celsius during the next week.

Ammar Al-Fargali, a local photographer told Arab News that there was marked improvement in mercury levels during the daytime making for warmer weather. He expressed hope that the mercury level would rise as the weather cleared in the next few days.

Mohammad Suleiman, a hospital coordinator in Riyadh also iterated that day temperatures will now start to rise making the nights more comfortable.

“The effect of the rain was stronger on Saturday but the cold weather is expected to recede by next week as the PME has forecast sunny weather,” Suleiman said adding that “We really enjoyed the warmth at the weekend.”
