Residents of Jeddah displayed great enthusiasm to send the social message across that disabled children are part of society by cheering and egging them on at an athletics and short marathon event organized Thursday.

Held under the theme “We Are One,” the initiative was undertaken by the Jeddah Municipality in cooperation with Mohammad Bawazir Trading Co. of Vitamin C, a healthy drink. Several institutions involved in helping special needs people like Resalet Amal Center, Sesame Gate Center and Center for Hearing and Speech Impaired Women in Jeddah participated in the event.

“Vitamin C’s participation in such a momentous activity is in line with the company’s social responsibility,” Mohammad Fawzi Bawazir, chairman of Mohammad Bawazir Trade, said, adding: “We always provide support and assistance to all sections of the community, especially disabled children as we believe in encouragement as the path to creativity and excellence.”

He said the initiative was taken up with the aim of promoting the need to understand disabled persons and to give necessary support to ensure the dignity, rights and well-being of people with disabilities.

“It aims to raise awareness about the benefits that can be derived from the integration of people with disabilities in all aspect of life,” he said.

In addition, it helps maintain blood capillaries and teeth. Moreover, it helps the body to absorb iron.
