The Ministry of Labor has stated that it monitored 13,137 violations of labor and residency laws in the Kingdom. Makkah registered the highest rate of violations with 25 percent of the total violations, followed by Riyadh with 21 percent. The ministry stated that violations of working for non- sponsors came at the top with 2,034 cases.

Secretary General for inspections and developing the labor environment, Dr. Abdullah Abu Thnain, said inspection teams had completed more than 68,459 visits to various establishments. Electronic services have been withheld from these facilities. Most of the visits were conducted on wholesalers and retailers, construction, maintenance workshops and foodstuff services.

Violations of article 39 of the labor system which rules against working for non-sponsors reached 2,034 violations, or 16 percent of the total violations. Fake nationalization violations reached 1,613, or 12 percent of the total number of violations, while violations of ministerial decisions related to organizing female shops reached 826, or 6 percent of the total number of violations; other violations amounted to 8,664 cases or 66 percent of the total violations.

Dr. Abdullah said that the latest violations were detected in the continuous inspection campaigns being conducted following the end of the correction period.

The ministry has referred the violations to the concerned authorities for further action. Violations of article 39 of the labor law related to working for non-sponsors have been referred to the Ministry of Interior while fake ID card violations have been referred to the nationalization committee in the ministry. Other violations have likewise been referred to the bodies responsible for streamlining the labor and residency law for both businessmen and laborers.
