“It is very important for everyone to find ways and means to improve our existing education system, and motivate community members to spread knowledge,” Maulana Malik Uzair Falahi, a well-known community member of Uttar Pradesh Overseas Welfare Association (UPOWA), said.

He was speaking at a workshop organized by UPOWA on “Importance of Education and its Objectives” to raise awareness about the importance of education as a tool for success on Friday.

The workshop’s aim was to bring about awareness among community members on the educational conditions in the entire Muslim world. It also focused on the available resources and their utilization, solutions and hopes in the field of Islamic and universal education.

“Education is the most important part of life. Our aim is to motivate community members to invest heavily in the education of children,” he said.

During a detailed presentation on educational conditions in their motherland, Dr. Abdur Raheem Khan, a member of UPOWA, said: “Institutions providing only Islamic education should include modern sciences in their curricula, so that our students may acquire knowledge of modern sciences besides their concentration on Islamic sciences.”

He also familiarized the community with current education scenario with facts and figures, reasons for low literacy among the community, available resources and their optimum utilization, solutions and hopes in field of Islamic and modern education.

UPOWA presented mementos on the occasion to the speakers, special guests and journalists who are always engaged in various educational and social activities. Those who participated included Chowdhary Irshad Ahmad, founder member of UPOWA, chief guest Rashid Ali Sheikh, Sheikh Abdul Quddus Nazeer, Sheikh Mansour Madani, Sheikh Zaheer Abdul Ahad and some renowned journalists.

The program brought together alumni of different Islamic institutions and universities such as Salafis, Nadwis, Qasmis, Falahis, Jamiaites, and Aligs, who participated in the program and expressed their views and extended logistic help. UPOWA patron Dr. Abdul Mannan appealed to the audience to strive for implementation of the recommendations that came out at the workshop.

On this occasion, UPOWA also published a communiqué and requested the audience to deliver UPOWA message in their respective regions.

UPOWA also released a paper titled “Educational conditions of our community in our home land” prepared by Dr. Abdur Raheem Khan, for the consideration of university graduates, intellectuals and policy-makers.
