Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Khartoum will organize a ceremony today to honor Sudanese limousine driver Muhammad Al-Fateh Makki in appreciation of his honesty and humanitarian gesture.
Suleiman Al-Budair, acting charge de affaires at the embassy, said that Makki tried his best to save the life of the Saudi citizen Ahmad Al-Zahrani, who fell unconscious while getting into the taxi on his way to a hotel after arrival in Khartoum on a tourist visa.
Al-Zahrani, whose condition was critical when being admitted, died later at a hospital.
Al-Budair said that the Sudanese national immediately rushed Al-Zahrani to the nearest hospital. Makki then contacted the embassy and informed them about the incident. He also handed all the personal belongings of Al-Zahrani, including his passport, mobile phone, watch and cash amounting to SR 9,500, to the concerned embassy officials.
Al-Budair said the cabbie was always in touch with the hospital and the embassy staff to inquire about the condition of the citizen. He also extended all support to complete the procedures for receiving the dead body. Al-Budair telephoned Makki to thank him for his noble deed. On his part, Makki responded that what he did was simply his religious and humanitarian duty.
