It was bad enough for former US President George Bush Senior to spend Christmas in hospital, but to add insult to injury, the German newspaper, Der Spiegel, published his obituary online a day after his family announced he was recovering from bronchitis.
Later it swiftly pulled the article, which described Bush as a “colorless politician” but not before earning a place in the listed obituaries in its issue. We feel that Bush Senior’s obituary was a little unkind.
I would not have felt the same had it been on Bush Junior or Tony Blair, who brought disaster to Iraq and Afghanistan, where the killings still go on, non-stop. Tony, a Labour politician, joined the capitalists on these illegal invasions to be rewarded with the appointment as the “Middle East Peace Envoy”! A warmonger turned “peace envoy,” what a joke! We feel sorry for old George! — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
