Abdulaziz Kridis became the first Saudi to win a major event in the history of Palms Golf Club InterContinental Riyadh after he won the Lincoln-InterContinental Golf Championship 2014 title at the City Center golf course here recently.

Dedication, determination and hard work in the modern game finally bore fruit for Kridis as he compiled a winning score of 4-under 52, arguably one of the best rounds in his golfing career.

Even though the second day was a bit windy and the rest of the players were struggling Abdulaziz managed to steady his game with confidence.

The two days tournament attracted over 100 players of 15 different nationalities. Players from all over the Kingdom came to Riyadh to participate in this prestigious event. The course was in excellent condition and the greens perfect, with pin positions a daunting challenge even for the well experienced players.

Salman Al Kalthamy, general manager at Al Jazirah Vehicles Central Region, awarded prizes to the winners, who all received Al Jazirah crystal trophies plus golf merchandise.

Topping off the awarding ceremony was a sumptuous dinner.

For his feat, the overall champion Abdulaziz received a Callaway X2Hot golf set and Al Jazirah crystal champion trophy.

Perennial Filipino winner Resty Sibug was the A-division (0-6 handicap) champion on net score of 58. South African Roy Evans was runner-up on 62 net.

In B-division (7-12 ), American veteran golfer John Pauli missed breaking par and had to settle for a level par 56 net to win the division. Another Filipino Joe Vallado tallied 57 net to claim the runner-up position.

Benedict Madariaga posted his first significant victory as a relatively new golfer by winning the C-division (13-18) crown on 55 from Ivo Zemek, a consultant Anesthesiologist who finish runner-up on level par 56.

In the ladies division, the Korean duo of Kim Jin Soon and Kim Nak Yong emerged champion and runner-up on 55 and 66 respectively.

Michael Bernardino on hole 3 and Evans on hole 17 were the winners of nearest to the pin awards.
