Captain Susantha Gunwardane led from the front, helping Al Faisaliah Team A secure its second victory against Riyadh InterContinental in the Inter-Hotels Cricket Tournament 2014.

InterCon won the toss and elected to bat first, and in the first over batsman Sadaqat Hussain fell with only 2 runs for the enemy’s first wicket. Mohammad Javed played a key role for InterCon to make the fighting score of 44 runs with Mohammad Asif on 23 before they were bowled out and InterCon boys set the target of 137 runs for Al Faisaliah Team A to win the match. Manjul Liyanaga was the best bowler from Faisaliah Team A taking 4 wickets and giving only 21 runs in his 4 overs bowling quota followed by Mohamed Rilwan at 34 runs in his 4 overs and 3 wickets.

Faisaliah Team A started its batting to chase the target where its opening and second batsmen fell in succession for only 7 and 18 runs respectively. Middle order rescued their team with captain Susantha playing his role to score 18 before the hard-hitting Wasantha played his shots to every corner of the ground for 48 runs. After Susantha wicket fell, Rizwan Junaiden came to the rescue and hit some rapid 4 sixes and a four to power Faisaliah A to the 137 target in 15 overs. Faisaliah A won the match by 6 wickets.

Saqib Hussain was the best bowler for InterCon as he took 2 wickets for only 23 runs in his bowling 4 overs quota.

In the afternoon, Riyadh Conference Palace Captain Rafik won the toss and invited Sheraton Riyadh to bat first.

The first wicket, Aqeel Afzal, fell after 10 runs and was replaced by top scorer Ishfaq Ahmed, who managed 27 runs before he was out. The second bowler was Fayas Mahroop who contributed 25 runs with opener Syed Murtaza Ali sharing 20 runs before both were out.
