Al Mostaqbal Hospital of Jack Esquerdo beat GIG Jeddah 67-57 in the 2014 JBL Basketball Tournament at Bin Mahfouz court here.

Al Mostaqbal bounced back from its previous defeat last week and showed improvement on team work. GIG missed the services of their main man De Villa and his usual offensive threat in the final quarter.

Bertolano top-scored with 17 points for Al Mostaqbal and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Baniel led GIG Jeddah with 20 points.

SGS NCB Quick Pay of Conrad Baltazar defeated UDG 90-72 for its back-to-back wins. SGS NCB running game was unstoppable in the fourth quarter as UDG started to lose steam. Small but terrible Mark Abulencia scored 32 points for SGS NCB Quick Pay and was adjudged as Arab News best player of the game while Michael Burgos had 27 points for UDG.

TRCIJ of Arwin Ochavillo beat KAMC 86-76. TRCIJ played good offense in the whole game as KAMC missed important baskets in the final period. Manalo top-scored with 19 points for TRCIJ and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Azcune scored 22 for KAMC.

Barangay Fame of Gerry Miramonte defeated Lahing Pinoy 72-70 for its second straight win. Lahing Pinoy dictated the game until the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter when Barangay Fame applied man-to-man defense to grab the lead as the final buzzer sounded. Gallano chipped in 24 points for Barangay Fame and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Dela Cruz’s 22 points led Lahing Pinoy.

Thursday, Carrefour of Dodong Dalagan defeated Sadia 69-57. Carrefour with its patented run and gun offense wreaked havoc in the fourth quarter. Sadia tried to get back to the game but missed important baskets and committed turnovers. Fuertes scored 30 points for Carrefour and was adjudged as the Saudi Sign best player of the game while Cruz had 20 points for Sadia.

ALJ Leasing of Arnold Uranza beat Pinoy Jeddah Group 70-61. ALJ Leasing relied on team work to neutralize the Pinoy Jeddah Group. Paul Taguba top-scored with 20 points and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Lopez contributed 16 points for PJG.

Taurust 29 of Jameel Del Rosario defeated Java Tithe 61-48. Taurust 29 played running game in the final quarter and applied pressure defense on Java Tithe’s ball handlers.
