Al Zamil Metal tightened its grip on first place with a Team of the Week and men’s Bowler of the Week double during the sixth session in the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.

Al Zamil returned the top tally of 45 points to win its second team honors. Except on the fifth week where Al Watan Décor clinched honors the weekly race had been a two-way affair between Zamil and Cristal Global, which won three straight accolades from the second week.

D’ Barkads finished second to Al Zamil on the day with 41 points followed by Sky Freight-TFC 39.5 and Cristal Global 38.5.

Jeddah Lanes pooled 37 points in fifth place with Kulisap ni Moe on 33, Al Watan Décor 29, Akiera Sato Bowlers 26 and Pin Slashers 23.

Pin Slashers were the other team to top 20 points with 23, while Avengers, Hidada Ltd. Saudi Diyar Consultants and Yanbu Sniper languished in the tailend on 29, 14, 10 and 9 in that order.

Victor Pagayon completed a double for Zamil when he rolled the high series of 726 in his division on lines of 246, 232 and 224 while Marie Gumpal of Jeddah Lanes became the ladies Bowler of the Week on 606 on games of 202, 179 and 165.

A modest third game where it slipped to fifth place for 9 points was the only downside to an otherwise gung-ho performance by Zamil, which aside from Pagayon received big numbers from Randy Mata 661, Merlen Pamintuan 559 and Ester Jalata 527. Veteran Cris Villavelez added 166-195 and Bonie Garcia had 191.

D’ Barkads, the third game winner, had Leo Edejer and Rally Zamora shooting solid rounds of 640 622 to go with the 525 by Che Bautista, 513 by Cheryl Tibay, two games of 202-205 by Danny Bautista and 211 by Rey Beltran.

Goying Salazar delivered the goods for Sky Freight with a 652 as did team owner Emy de Guzman 598, Babes Tiongson 583 and Grace Dasas 522. Oca Bernabe and Atoi Cruz shared the team’s remaining three games on 210-198 and 169 respectively.

For Cristal Global, beaten to first place by Zamil in the first game, it was Zaldy Bacero that struck hardest on 653 with Gail Mata and Bheng Cerbito from the distaff side hitting full games of 541 and 513. Two-game contributions of 235-215, 167-180 and 200-173 came from Cesar Monares, Pancho Cuevas and Danny Pamintuan.

In addition to Gumpal the others that bowled well for the host team were Nick Gozun 628 and Jeanette Cebito 581. Paolo Allego contributed 502, Igna Salgado had 200-171 and Gerry Mandanas made 208.
