Al Rushaid Construction Company clinched the 2014 1st Conference EPBL Premier Championship with a 97-78 rout of Dhahran Basketball Club in the decisive Game 3 at Al Ittifaq Gymnasium here last Friday.

ARCC won Game 1 93-75 of the best-of-three championship series but DBA responded rebounded with a 105-101 win in the second game to force rubber match.

The determined Erectors stamped their dominance to lead from the start to finish en route to their Game 3 victory.

The Erectors, bannered by former NCAA, UAAP and PBA players, brought along their throng of supporters and company executives, who were never let down by their team as ARCC took home the crown.

After a tight first quarter, ex-PCU-Dolphins and Finals MVP Chris Manalili, playing with sustained brilliance all day, scored six straight points to push the Erectors to a 40-32 lead with 3:23 remaining in the second quarter and never looked back the rest of the way.

Former PBA-Shell beanpole Frederick Canlas scored 10 points, while teammates Alex Almario and Jessie Garcia each added 17 points. Bener Salamat had 11 points while Manalili had 12 points for Best Coach awardee Jovy Sese, a former PBA-Pop Cola stalwart.

The American laden DBC team was without former NCAA Taichen Dickerson and 6-fot-6 Karim Servranckz. Stephen Hoyer top-scored with 23 markers, Eugene Santos added 22 points and Hani Musa had 15 points for the runner-up DBC.

Meanwhile, in the Intercompany A, Issam Kabbani won the championship game against Zamil Coolcare by forfeiture 20-0. Zamil was unable to field five players in the scheduled championship.

Issam Kabbani’s championship stint was highlighted by an undefeated record in the whole tournament (7-0) and dominated its opponents with an average of 12 points margin.

Kabbani standout Mohannad Bazerkan was adjudged as the MVP of the tournament with teammates Anthony Cabotaje and Arvin Torres named to the mythical five together with Keneth Edar and John Magallanes of Zamil.
