JEDDAH: Azizia Deccan will take on Independence Cricket Club (ICC) in the final of the second Ford Jeddah Champions Trophy hardball tennis cricket tournament being played at the Sulemania grounds, here.

In the semifinals held recently, Aziza Deccan eased past Barkatiya six wickets while in the second semis ICC got the better of Azizia XI by 4 wickets.

In the first match, Azizia Deccan won the toss and put their rivals in to bat. The move paid off as Barkatiya were reeling at one stage at 7 for 3 after three overs. However, Rizwan (37) gave some respectability to their total of 66 runs, which came off 14 overs. Abdul Wasay ripped through the rival batting line up and had figures of 4 for 12.

In reply, Azizia Deccan were off to a flying start and scored 27 during the first four overs after which they lost their first wicket. They were reduced to 50 for 4 after a controlled spell of spin bowling by Omar who claimed 2 for 11. However, the total was not challenging and Aziza Deccan reached their required target with three overs to spare.

In the second semis, ICC was made to work hard for their win against some spirited bowling by rival Azizia XI. Azizia XI could not do much with the bat and were shot out for 80 runs after 13.4 overs. Salman top-scored with 26 runs. For ICC Rasheed claimed 3 for 21.

In reply ICC were also left in a peculiar situation as they struggled at one stage at 40 for 4 with their top order batsmen dismissed cheaply. But Abdul Nayeem (23 not out) and Saqib (26) made sure there were no further hiccups as ICC reached their target after 11.5 overs.

In the quarterfinals, Azizia Deccan came from behind to beat Ford Titans by six wickets, Independence Cricket Club got the better of Super Chargers by 15 runs, Azizia XI displayed some outstanding all-round cricket to close the door on Konkan XI while in the last match, Barkatiya XI chased down an imposing target of 93 set by Elseif in 10.2 overs for the loss of 7 wickets.
