JEDDAH: The second week of Ford Jeddah Champions Trophy hard tennis ball cricket tournament brought a whole lot of surprises at Sulemania grounds here.

In a Group ‘A’ match, Kings XI Hyderabad elected to bat first after winning the toss against Azizia Deccan and scored 48 for 9 off 12 overs. Azeem (13) and Alam (11) were the main scorers. Abdul Wasay Khan wrecked the rival batting line-up with 5 for 11. Azizia Deccan reached their target off 6.3 overs for the loss of a wicket. Ishaq was unbeaten with 24 and Muzaffar got 11. Jamshed got the only wicket. Azizia Deccan won by 9 wickets.

Man-of-the-Match: Abdul Wasay Khan

In another match of the same division, Super Chargers let HBK XI bat first, who set a target of 89 runs. Mujahid (32), Abdul Hafiz (21) were the run getters. Shafeeq 4 for 17 and Minhaj 3 for 13 were the wicket takers.

In reply Super Azam led Super Chargers to victory with an unbeaten 33 runs supported by Mujahid’s 11.

Mujahid and Sajjad shared 4 wickets.

In a Group ‘B’ match, JWC scored 137 for 6 from their stipulated overs against El-Seif. Mohammed Asif scored a brisk 78 while Kamran later propped up the innings with 32. Naushad and Abdul Mubeen took 2 wickets each.

In reply, El-Seif managed 106 for 8. Irfan (31) and Mubeen (25) were the scorers. Aneesh got 2 wickets. JWC won by 4 wickets.

Man-of-the-Match: Mohammed Asif.

In a thrilling Group ‘C’ encounter, Barkatiya XI got the better of Hyderabad Royals by 5 wickets. Hyderabad put up 86 for 6 from them stipulated 12 overs overs. Sajid (35) and Rashid (16) made that possible. Abdul Qadeer bagged 2 for 15.

Barkatiya XI reached their target and won the match by 5 wickets and 11 balls to spare. Thanks to Maaz (21 not out) and Rizwan (18). Abrar got wickets.

In a Group ‘D’ morning match, ICC got the better of Famous XI by 9 wickets. Famous XI batted first after and scored 67 for 9. Mujeeb top-scored with 31 runs.

Rashid did most of the damage and took 5 for 11 supported by Abdul Rayees’ 2 for 11.

ICC reached their target after 6.2 overs.

Abdul Gafoor scored an unbeaten 35 not out while Ameeruddin supported him with 21 not out.

Azizia XI’s 92: (Khurram 29, Ashfaq 14; Musharraf 2 for 11, Ansari 2 for 14) beat Empower Contracting 67: (Sohail 38; Azam 2 for 13) by 25 runs.
