Bank AlJazira had been playing consistent bowling of late and to win its second Team of the Week award is no longer surprising in the Qatar Airways-AFTBL 48th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

The Bankers returned the 13th week top tally of 36 points, edging out Habagat (35) for the weekly honors.

Jeddah 5K gathered 33.5 points with Idol on 30 the other team to make 30 points or better on a night when the total of the points race winner was the lowest thus far after 13 weeks of slugfest on the lanes.

Sky Freight Forwarders pooled 28.5 points in fifth place with league leader AMF-Moe and Jeddah Lanes tied on 23.

The previous week honoree MC Hammer compiled 20 points while the last three to check in were FTBJ-Jem 18, Taurus 12 and Lipton Chai Latte 5.

In individual race for Lipton Chai Latte Bowler of the Week had Randy Mata shot the high series of 634 and in the process completed a double for AlJazira.

But for a slight dip in the third game where they finished third the Bankers, who won their first award on the ninth week, were in control all night long with Mata at the helm of a five-man rotation that also included Ariel Urquia 581, Mikee Protacio 562, Jowet Carion 549 and Luis Luna 538.

Habagat likewise did well in using a single set of five players, led by Richard Antonio on 613. Edu Toledo carded 579, Manny Tibay had 574, George Mangaliman 570 and Ver Jasa 535.

Jeddah 5K was another team to go fluent with five: Cesar Pagtlunan 632, Roger Daquiaog 569, Dawood Abu 560, Tommy Kamal 551 and Ally Bin 546.

Emy de Guzman’s Sky Freight had veteran Cris Villavelez at the top of the scoring ladder on 610 followed by Goying Salazar 558, James Galvan 548, Rene Santiago 213-151, Bonnie Garcia 208-178 and Pancho Cuevas 161-178.
