Bank AlJazira came up with a solid performance that translated to its first Team of the Week award during the 9th session in the Qatar Airways-AFTBL 48th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Bank AlJazira picked up pace after the first game to compile the top tally of 40.5 points and join the league honor roll that included two-time Team of the Week winners Sky Freight Forwarders, Jeddah Lanes and Taurus. AFM-Moe is the other team to taste victory in the five-man team Saturday night league event.

Moe came second to AlJazira on 37 points. Idol was third on the night with 35 points followed by MC Hammer 28, Habagat 24 and Sky Freight 22. Jeddah Lanes tallied 20 points. Taurus netted 19.5 points while Jeddah 5K, JEM-FTBJ and Lipton Chai Latte brought up the rear on 17.5, 12.5 and 8 points in that order.

To Danny Bautista of AFM went the individual Bowler of the Week award as he fired the high series of 676 on lines of 266, 246 and 164.

AlJazira started the four-phase session in fourth position on 8 points then accelerated to tie for first in the second and then win the third game while compiling the top overall output of 3,074 for another first-place points of 11.

At the vanguard of AlJazira’s award-winning display was the pair of Francis Goron and Randy Mata who drilled 675 and 667. Ariel Urquia, Jowet Carion and Luis Luna respectively carded 628, 596 and 508 in the single set of five players whose scores counted toward the team total.

Abdul Obie Ycasas and Cesar Monares had 627 and 618 in support of Bautista at AFM-Moe team, while Nonie Yap added 560 and Mao Orolfo 545.

Jess Pineda and Jimmy Mandingiado came through with 637 and 606 at the helm of Idol who also collected 593 from Nanding Siasoco, 592 from Sol Cuenca, 162-205 from Bash Langa and 165 from Fred Cuenca.

Zaldy Bacero shot 632 to lead a quintet that advanced the cause of Hammer. Richard Junio scored 599, Rene Punzalan 597, Melvin Lising 555 and Robert Bato 543.

Habagat had Med Ramos at the top of the scoring ladder on 652 followed by Leo Edejer 580, Archie Santos 570 and Edris Mangoda 527.
