JEDDAH: Crown Steel got off to a flying start in the Premier Summer tournament when they thrashed Pepsi Deccan Knights by nine wickets in the Western Province Cricket Association organized tourney, here.

Deccan Knights were bundled out for 116 as Abu Huraira ran through the rival batting order and scalped 4 for 8. Crown Steel in reply achieved 119 for 1 off 46 balls. Khurram Karamat remained unbeaten on 63.

In another match, Hala Friends routed Islamic Development Bank by 54 runs. Hala Friends piled up 193 for 9. Hassan Malik top-scored with 72 runs. IDB responded with 139 for 8 as Ali grabbed 4 for 26. Riaz made 57.

Seven matches were played in the Morning Summer League.

Crown Blue beat Stallions by 26 runs, Myaco routed ATS by 65 runs, Aquafinal Rapid Tech defeated Al Kabbaini by 24 runs, Johnson got the better of Nesma Holding by 5 wickets, Mercedes Benz edged past M Q Group by 12 runs, New Young Stars beat QRCC by 10 runs and Al Mazroi XI crushed Haneefa Tigers by 62 runs.

In the Afternoon Summer matches, Jotun beat AMI Juffali by 38 runs, Fuchs Al Hamrani trounced Hala International School by 9 wickets, Marine Services routed Choudhry XI by 39 runs, UCC got the better of Thales by three wickets and Arab Lanks defeated Contraco by 36 runs.

Fifty-six teams are taking part in this tournament.
