D’ Barkads became only the fifth different team to land a Team of the Week award when they ruled the seventh session proceedings in the FTBJ-ICBL 33rd Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

D’ Barkads returned the best tally of 36 points, the lowest so far in the five-man team league event, on a difficult day for scoring with none of the teams reaching the 40 points mark.

Paradise Brand and Hidada Ltd. were tied on 31 points, five behind D’ Barkads, while Taurus RDLR had 28 and Lucky Strike 27.

Alliance in Motion pooled 25.5 points in 6th place on the day followed by Sky Freight Forwarders 21 and MJ Bowlers 18.

GM Pin Pals 16.5, Boleros 16 and Lance & 3rdy 14 brought up the rear.

The individual race for Bowler of Week was won by Saleh Fayez of Hidada and Sky Freight’s Imelda Sayago in the men’s and ladies divisions. Fayez shot the high series of 730 on lines of 233, 278 and 201 while Sayago scored 600 on scratch games of 167, 211 and 144.

Leo Edejer was just 5 pins shy of 600 to lead the D’ Barkads quartet that played the full three games. Rally Zamora was on 593, Manny Tibay 583 and Cheryl Tibay 553. Thess Grandia and Jess Fuentes shared the remaining three games on 168-153 and 178 respectively.

League leading Boleros struggled to check in next to last on the day, allowing their closest pursuer Paradise Brand to gain some ground.

At the forefront of Paradise was Fahd Al Romani on 636. Al Romani found support from Igna Salgado 598 and Rey Beltran 563. From the distaff side, all three players contributed with Marie Gumpal on 165-158, Lourdes Punzalan 153-137 and Lanie Zamora 161-157.

Supporting Fayez at Hidada were Romy Bunagan 537, Grace Siasoco 552 and Pinky Acato 551. Nanding Siasoco tossed in 158-173 and Amro Al Amri had 206.

Taurus’ Jimmy Urbano at 610 and Lucky Srike’s Rudy Valenzuela at 637 were among the few to cross the 600-series mark.
