DJ Auto Parts is flying high after its category B2 team crushed JRTC 4-0 for its third win in as many outings while in category C, Friday Morning Tennis Club and Hidada Tennis Club (HITEC) both had a split 1-win 1-loss score card with Hidada winning the toss-up 3-1 in the 25th Astec Team Tennis Tournament at the tennis courts of Hotel Al-Bilad in Jeddah Corniche.

Everything looks rosy for DJ Auto Parts B2 team, dropping only one set in winning its three assignments. Scoring 4-0 against JRTC and Toyota Express, they only found competition against a fighting DPWorld when their fourth set pair of Ben Consolacion and Allan Maya Basa lost on the tiebreak in the fourth set to Lito Mosquera and Joel Chan.

First set saw Jun and Nur Panizales winning over Conrad Matias and Faiz Amil via an 8-6 score. Second set tussle gave another point to DJ Auto as Marlon Ordono with Carlo Guese running away with an 8-3 win against Bennie Oandasan and Darrell Lee Eltagonde.

In the third set singles play, Romeo Espino mastered Ador Olivo 8-3 giving DJ Auto the match. With a 3-0 match record, DJ now leads the five-team Group 2 of the B2 category.

In category C, Hidada Tennis Club lost initial match via points against Toyota Express team 2-2 (20-25) but rebounded on its next match as they dealt a 3-1 beating to Friday Morning Tennis Club.

Taking two successive points with Mario and Romy scoring an 8-6 win against Roland and Jun Malabanan in the first set, and Melchor-Pons taking the second set with an 8-6 victory over Lemuel and Alex Miraballes

Hidada posted a 2-0 lead. Hidada’s third set singles player Rico lost out 5-8 to Jun of Friday Morning TC to put the match in a precarious situation for both teams.

In the fourth set, Hidada TC relied on the veteran moves of Elmer and Ed to win over Joniel and Hajji Pilongo via tie-break 8-7 and register its first win in the tournament.

Also in category C, Astec newcomer Friday Morning Tennis Club tasted victory in its first outing when they beat JRTC-3 by 3-1.

A first set love game 8-0 was registered by Jun Malabanan and Roland Flores against Saifudin Bagar and Aslanie Muripaga, followed by an 8-1 win by Limwel and Alex Miraballes over Jamal Pangcoga and Camalodeng Pangcoga.

Third set singles play saw Jun master Ismael Macamdampag 8-2. Friday Morning TC then lost the fourth set as the pair of Joenel and Hajji Pilongo could not come on time to hand the default 8-0 win in favor of Amanoullah M. and Omar Nassief.

They were, however, not as productive in their second outing as they lost to Hidada Tennis Club 1-3 for a 1-1 record in the tournament.
