Under the supervision of Saudi Arabian Motor Federation (SAMF), the second round of the Saudi Gymkhana Championship in collaboration with “G1” concluded at King Fahad Park in Dammam on Saturday.

This event saw tough competition among 16 drifters for a seat in the finals in Jeddah to be held on Nov. 30.

Drifter Muath Elessa won first position in the category of rear-wheel drive, while Sultan Kailo and Khalid Elzaid finished second and third respectively.

In the four-wheel drive category, Nadeem Mansour took the first place with Amir Elmalki and Ghassan Harbi second and third respectively.

With their victories Muath and Nadeem qualified for the final round to be held at Gliding Club in Jeddah.

In an exciting, tough and electrifying atmosphere, the public and fans of motorsports were enthralled by the Saudi Gymkhana Championship throughout two days. Out of the total 40 participants, 16 drivers that posted the highest speeds in the first day races qualified for the next round.

On the next day, a huge crowd turned out for the race and enjoyed the performance of drifter Captain Abdulhadi Al Qahtani who displayed some nail-biting stunts that left the audience mesmerized.

The competition started with rear-wheel drive performance, followed by the four-wheel drive in a very competitive atmosphere.

Anwar Helmi, secretary general of SAMF, awarded the winners who qualified for the finals, and he lauded the efforts of the rest of the racers and the organizer as well as sponsors. The organizers raffled off a brand new Ford Focus 2013 won by a spectator named Emad Idris and sponsored by Al Jazirah Vehicle Agencies Co. and partners for this grand event launched for the first time in the Middle East.

For his part, Sabah ElKridees, GM Marketing of Aljazirah Vehicle Agencies, thanked all those involved in organizing this event especially the ones from Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, strategic partners of Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies, Petromin Oils, Hala Automotive Services Company, distributor of KumhoTires in Saudi Arabia, Quick Lane,. Pit Stop Customizing Cars, and Mix FM as the radio sponsor.

The Eastern Province finalists will join the winners from Riyadh namely Captin Saeed Almouri and Captain Obid El-Anazi for the final round in Jeddah where the Saudi Gymkhana Championship title will be at stake. The first place winner will receive a grand prize of Mustang car 2013 model, while the second and third placers will take home SR20,000 and SR10,000. AlJazirah Vehicles Agencies Co. and Petromin Oils sponsored all prizes to encourage the youth to participate in this sport.
