Early this month the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) members trooped to the Ice Land Bowling Center for their monthly tournament for March.

When the smoke of battle cleared Benj Espinosa and Malou Nidoy were crowned the men’s and ladies Bowler of the Month.

Both winners enjoyed wire-to-wire victories. Espinosa topped the four games qualifying round on 746 and sustained the momentum to win hands down from Toto Lim.

Espinosa, a Class D bowler, had a winning two-game series of 430 while Class B player Lim settled for first runner-up prize on 354. Danny Manrisa and Fred Cuenca , bracketed in Class C and Class D respectively, tied for third and fourth places on 358.

Class B Nidoy also emerged the qualifying topnotcher on 826, running away with the title on the distaff side after shooting 393. Shirley Sagmit, another Class D campaigner, took the first runner-up spot on 364 with Class C Jana Delia Felesima three pins down in second runner-up on 361.

In addition to the cash prizes first-place winners each received a 5kg. bag of rice courtesy of Makatifoods through Robert Stone. The rest of the winners received cash prizes, too.

Espinosa and Nidoy joined February champions Jay Bengco and Carmen Lim and January winners Tom Langa and Mia Cedotes in the Bowler of the Month honor roll in which the qualifiers will fight it out in the year-ending Bowler of the Year Championship. A guaranteed prize of two brand new laptops await the grand champions, according to OFBC Chairman Joel Nidoy.
