A new home, a new league and a lot of new players in the OFBC fold.

Against this backdrop the Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club unveiled its new tournament last Friday, true to its mandate of providing a platform for beginning bowlers to hone their skills.

Fed X Ally drew first blood as Team of the Week at the start of the OFBC Friday Morning League Season 1 at the Ice Land Bowling Center.

Consul General Uriel Norman Garibay of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah was the chief guest during the opening ceremony that preceded the games. Ellene A. Sana, executive director at Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA) Philippines, was also present. Garibay also inducted into office the OFBC set of officers led by Commissioner Joel Nidoy, who said the mission of this tournament is to help raise funds for Bantay Bata 163 and sponsor one scholar through the Bantay Bata Edukasyon Foundation.

Fed X Ally returned the top total of 28 points after it shut out Jun Estefano’s Pairs and Spares 20-0 on total pinfalls of 2,679-2,337 and rank points of 8-1.

Fed X actually enjoyed a Team of the Week and ladies Bowler of the Week double courtesy of Fedelyn Bustinera who shot the high series of 605.

Ed Cordova and Peps Niera rolled 553 and 521 in support of Fedelyn whose husband and team captain Khalid likewise contributed to the cause with 512 while the fifth player in the rotation, Ally Bin, added 488.

D’ Mountaineers had the second best tally of 28 points and produced the men’s Bowler of the Week in Lito Delos Reyes as they crushed Jandel’s Pride 18-2 on total pinfalls of 2,756-2,613 and rank points of 9-6.

Delos Reyes fired 578 to pace Mountaineers who also received 563 and 560 from Jun Baculod and Hadi Pacheco, 511 from Lourdes Punzalan, 154-195 from Rene Punzalan and 139 from skipper Rudy Jamon.

Lance & 3rdy of Ric Reformado totaled 27 points in a 12-8 triumph over Fatima Jintarat’s D’ Cyclone (2,784-2,656 10-7) thanks to the efforts of Steve Historillo 575, Evelyn Santoc 573, Ver Jasa 564, Shirley Sagmit 509, Reformado 210-169 and Jun de Dios 160.

D’ Luf’s Strikers captained by Jay Bengco emerged 12-8 winner over Flexibowls of Voi Ycong and totaled 17 points. They carded total pinfalls of 2,533 to Flexibowls’ 2,507 for rank points of 5-4. Strikers relied on a single set of five players namely Edu Toledo 535, Ruel Santoc 532, Ronnie de Castro 525, Bengco 489 and Aileen Miralbuna 452.

In the other match, the Mixed Shots of Jerry “Ka Imo” Carredo defeated Nomac 12-8 (1,989-1,978 3-2) for totals of 15-10 points.

Carms Lim and Vic Gonzales led the Mixed Shots on 568 and 538 respectively with Carredo on 463, Toto Lim 460, Vangie Lim 108-96 and Ryan Okol 134.
