JEDDAH: Debutants Innovative Contractors for Advanced Dimension (ICAD) lifted the JCA Afternoon League Cup when they scored a comfortable 41-run win over a fighting Peeran XI. Old Students cricketers grabbed the third position after they got the better of favorites Munch Bakery by 45 runs in the Jeddah Cricket Association-organized tournament.

ICAD got off to a good start, thanks to a brilliant 92 runs from the blade of Momin who ensured that his team put up a decent and fighting total of 211 for 6 after 25 overs. Momin received good support from Ashkar who remained unbeaten with 39 runs. Zaheer Peeran (3 for40), Wajid (2 for 25) and Nizam (1 for 16) bowled well.

In reply Peeran XI got a big jolt as they lost their opener off the very first ball of the innings. However, later the middle order batsmen steadied things with useful contributions from Mustafa (27), Asim (33), Nazim (23), Wajid (20) and Faisal (24 n.o.) but none of them stayed long enough to take them past winning target and folded up at 170 for 9. Nishad ripped through their batting took 4 for 21. Shakeel (3 for 35) while Ajit and Hasan picked up a wicket each.

Old Students Beat Munch Bakery by 45 runs in a high scoring encounter to clinch the third position. Old Students scored 294 for 4 off 25 overs. Omar scored a brilliant century and went on to take 2 wickets for 22 to cap in a fine all round performance. He raced to his century and was eventually out for 105, which came off 61 balls. Imran (26) and Javaid with a quick fire (40) rallied around him. Abdul Rauf took 2 for 60.

Munch Bakery started on a positive note and scored 97 for the first wicket and another 109 for the 2nd wicket to reach 207 for 2. Tariq Jamal scored a hard hitting 51 and Zain with a responsible knock of 92 off 58 balls made sure Munch were in with a chance. Later Rana scored a quick 43 runs. However, Omar (2 for 22) and Atif (2 for 68) applied the brakes and did not allow them to progress further as they were eventually restricted to 249 runs to give Old Students victory.

After the final, the prize distribution ceremony was held and awards distributed by CEO of Saudi Cricket Center Nadeem Nadwi who was one of the chief guests accompanied by Sadiq-ul-Islam of SCC. “A game is not only about winning or losing; it is an event where teamwork and passion comes into play. Innovative Contractors for Advanced Dimension (ICAD) is an airport system integrators based in Jeddah. They came into public attention when the company`s team won the Jeddah cricket league last Friday, said Ghassan Sayegh CEO of ICAD. To realize the untapped potential residing in team, ICAD cricket team was officially founded on January 11th, 2013 with Waqas Ahmed as its captain and Navas Thangal as vice-captain.
