THE LAST two rounds of the football season ended without so much of a surprise except for one — Fateh beat Hilal!

Fateh scored the victory in Riyadh and, more surprisingly, Hilal’s president has kept his mouth shut.

I think, he is worried about the supporters’ rage against him. Many teams may have had bad beginnings in the first round but would quickly pick up and recover in the succeeding rounds.

The fans of Hilal expected that from their team. The standings of other teams are promising. Even though the league is in the early stages for assumptions, it seems that Shabab would remain on top. Shabab and Ahli are the favorites for the championship. Ittihad is also expected to do something good this year along with Nasr but Hilal’s performance isn’t looking good.

Ittihad’s second match against Ittifaq was a good one for them especially that their foreign players played well and showed a big difference and a big advantage to the team.

Impressive performance by their Brazilian midfielder Diego Souza who helped score in all the three goals. I’m keeping an eye on this team.

I think all they need is a little more time. They are getting more stable now with a new management which seems very eager to win the league title.

As for Nasr, the team in my opinion would take a much longer time. You can’t expect them to do much except in the Crown Prince Cup.

Although their supporters have already been patient for the past 18 years, they would need to be just that a little more. We have seen improvements in this team. Their coach is doing a good job but he needs players who will do as he says not somebody who is stubborn and refuses to be a team player.

Hilal, I feel is lost. I believe that they need direction with a new president. I’d like to talk more about this issue in my next column but, for now, my deepest condolences to the family of Ta’awon’s player Nasse Albishi who died during the second round. On a side note, Ta’awon’s match against Ahli is postponed.
