Jeddah Lanes became the first to win three Team of the Week awards when it matched the league best total so far of 41 points during the 10th session in the Qatar Airways-AFTBL 48th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

The host bowlers enjoyed a singularly remarkable performance with Majid Aslani coming away with the exclamation point by clinching the Lipton Chai Latte Bowler of the Week plum after hitting the high series of 727.

League-leading Moe-AFM ended up a distant second on the night with 34 points with MC Hammer one point adrift at 33. The previous week honoree Bank AlJazira compiled 28.5 points in fourth place followed by Jem-FTBJ 28, Habagat 25.5, Idol 22 and Sky Freight Forwarders 20.

Filling the last three spots were Taurus 15, Lipton Chai Latte 13 and Jeddah 5K 4.

There was no looking back after Jeddah Lanes topped the first game. Aslani hit scratch games of 246, 226 and 255 to be at the forefront of the host bowlers’ attack that also contained 666 from skipper Igna Salgado and 617 from Paolo Allego. Frank Afurong had 578, Gerry Mandanas two games of 198-206 and Jun Palacios 187.

The duo of Nonie Yap and Danny Bautista gave Moe a big lift with 689 and 648 to go with the 582 by Wilson Triguero, 571 by Obie Ycasas, 192-200 by Cesar Monares and 188 by Ding Dela Rosa.

Zaldy Bacero shot the night’s second highest score of 708 while leading the MC Hammer which also got 642 and 573 from Melvin Lising and Jhun Estefano. The other scorers were Amro Al-Amri 245-252, Rene Punzalan 180-160 and Richard Junio 146-152.

Jem-FTBJ built its total from the five-man team of Saleh Fayez 653, Rey Beltran 629, Jeff San Pedro 617, Rally Zamora 564 and Efren San Pedro 543.

Ver Jasa and Richard Antonio bannered Habagat on 644 and 603.
