LONDON: South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that they are “open to offers” for their Zimbabwean star midfielder Khama Billiat, amid reported interest in the player from a club in Saudi Arabia.
A Saudi club has recently been linked to a possible move for Billiat and that tentative transfer talk heightened on Thursday, when Mamelodi Sundowns’ club spokesperson Thulani Thuswa confirmed there had been interest in the Harare-born 26-year-old.
“Yes, there is interest in Khama, but we must remember that an interest is not an offer,” Thuswa told South African news source Independent Online (IOL).
“Khama is one of our key players. He loves Sundowns and we also love him, but we are also open to offers. If the offer is right, we will sit down and have a look at it.”
Sundowns have been unable to thrash out Billiat’s future at the club owing to a congested fixture list in recent times.
However, with those prior time constraints now having eased somewhat, it appears a concrete decision may soon be in the offing.
“We must remember that Sundowns haven’t had time (to talk to him),” Thuswa added. “Our schedule has been very tight. We were involved in three competitions in the last few months.
“Now that we have more time on our hands, I believe we will be able to discuss Khama’s future.”
