Kokan XI of Jubail city claimed the Kokan Premier League 2014 trophy in style by defeating Al Jazirah A in the final by 40 runs Friday.

Setting a target of 110 runs, Kokan bowled out Al Jazirah at 69 to claim winner’s trophy. Muzaffar Bachne with a brilliant knock of 38 runs while claiming a hat trick wickets took home Man-of-the Match and Man-of-the Series trophies.

Sixteen teams from Riyadh, Qassim Province and Jubail, participated in the day-long event of 8 overs matches on knockout basis. Sarfraz Zanzu of Raigad King Aftab was declared best bowler and Shadab Nawde of Kokan Star was declared best batsman of the tournament.

The yearly event is organized by Kokan Committee Riyadh (KCR). This year’s event was sponsored by Balsharaf Group, Al Kabeer, Mobily, Parkar Consultants, Air Arabia, WETCO, Al Taiseer Aluminum Factory, Paradise Restaurant and TITLE with lucrative gifts for performers including return air tickets.

In a festive mood KCR members received guests and extended hospitalities throughout the day during the event. KCR has been working for uplifting community from Kokan region in Maharashtra India, in the field of higher education; and yearly cricket tournament organized as a part of its awareness programs.

Tajammul Pangarkar appreciated participating teams, neutral umpires and audience for helping make the event a success and thanked sponsors for their support during the awarding ceremony.
