International Indian School Jeddah Alumni Association under the patronage of IISJ organized 2 days of sports meet for its male and female alumni.

Dubbed IISJAAympics 2014 the event was first of its kind of an endeavor done by IISJAA executive committee. IISJAAympics was welcomed by a large group of highly enthusiastic alumni turning the event in to a grand success.

A total of 160 participants entered competitions in badminton, table tennis, long jump and shotput as well as track events 100, 200 400 and 800 meters. Male events were conducted at IISJ boys section in Rehab district and female events in IISJ girls section at Al Azizyah. The event was sponsored by Marvel Realty – a real estate promoting company based in India and co-sponsored by Blueberry concepts and designs. Both companies are owned by the alumni of IISJ.

Physical education teachers from IISJ helped the organizing committee in the logistics, judging and formatting the activities. Ghouse Mohiuddin, HoD of Department of Sports in IISJ boys section and Mrs. Ranjeet Kaur, HoD, Department of Sports in girls section played a vital role in this event. Sports instructors from IISJ Mr. Vijender, Mr. Nadeem Farouqi, Mr. Imran and Mrs. Panth were instrumental in referring and managing the sports events.

The closing ceremony was done on the last day of the sports event in IISJ Boys School Auditorium. Ladies were escorted to the boys section after finishing their games in IISJ Girls Section. IISJAA president Asim Zeeshan welcomed the guests, participants and winners of the sports event and thanked the entire alumni fraternity for their participation and making it a successful event.

Syed Masood Ahmed, principal of IISJ, was nostalgic in his speech. His support for the benefit of the community has been unmeasurable. The chairman of the IISJ Managing Committee Haroon Rasheed was the chief guest who felicitated the winners with medals and he applauded the efforts of the Alumni getting acquainted with each other and wished to have such events in future as well. IISJAA Coordinator and Head Master Open School C.P Joy congratulated all the participants for their enthusiasm shown during the event. Farha Masood, vice principal of girls section, received a warm welcome by the female alumni as soon as she entered the auditorium. IISJAA Gen. Secretary Fareed Sardar Khan conducted the proceedings of the closing ceremony.

IISJ was established in 1969 at Jeddah as the first community school for Indian nationals residing in Saudi Arabia. It has a large alumni network spread across the length and breadth of the globe. Because of studying in a community school on a foreign land the alumni compassion is very strong.
