JEDDAH: Zain Al Salikeen’s brilliant unbeaten ton helped Munch Bakery rout Peeran XI by 74 runs during first week of the MoneyGram-sponsored Cricket Ke Badshah T20 Afternoon Cricket League, held under the auspices of the Saudi Cricket Center and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association here.

In the other matches, Sarfaraz’s unbeaten knock of 112 enabled Ktaykit get the better of Old Students by 4 wickets while ICAD continued their winning streak as the routed Peeran Warriors by 50 runs.

Led by a superb106 from veteran Salikeen, Munch Bakery piled up 289 for 1. Zain was associated in an opening partnership of 142 runs with Tariq Jamal, who scored a quick-fire 79 runs. Thereafter, Zain was also involved in an unbeaten stand of 147 runs for the second wicket with Ibaad, who hit a blazing 80 off 27 balls.

In reply Peeran XI made a valiant effort to reach their target. However, Kashif’s 71 and Tariq’s 44 was not good enough and were restricted to 206 for 6 in their 20 overs.

In the other match, ICAD continued their winning streak by reaching 188 in their allotted overs with useful contributions from Shakeel (45), Jinto (41) and Imran (27). Riaz picked up 2 for 26. In reply Peeran Warriors were bundled out for 138 with Mohsin (3 for17), Shakeel (2 for 9) and Adil (2 for 24) doing most of the damage. Hussain was the only batsman who resisted as the rest crumbled tamely to give ICAD victory.

Elsewhere, Old Students batted first reached of 188 for 6. Naveed played a elegant knock of 69 and was given good support by Shahid (30) and Sajjad (23). Naseem, Zeeshan, Mudassir and Shamshad picked up a wicket each. Although Old Students made Ktaykit work for every run they scored with some tight bowling by Amanullah (2 for 24) and Naveed (2 for 30), Sarfaraz had other ideas as he dominated the proceedings from one end while wickets fell at the other end. He garnered most of the strike to score a brilliant unbeaten 112 runs off only 53 balls to help his team win comfortably.
